New Marble Dream® Resurfacing Kit from Daich Coatings

Good, better, BEST. That’s what Connie Coe has achieved over the past several years with different Daich Coatings countertop kits. She started in 2019 by covering her good laminate kitchen countertop with the SpreadStone™ Mineral Select™ Countertop Kit to get better results. And she really liked the shimmering mineral accent results. Then, in late 2023 she decided to make another change. Coe used the Marble Dream® Resurfacing Kit to gain a brighter, more modern look.

“The SpreadStone countertops were still in great shape, but I needed a change,” says Coe. “I really like the marble because it has a ‘cleaner look’ and it has a more ‘up to date’ appearance for my kitchen. It’s great that you can easily go over one Daich Coatings surface with another product when you’re ready for a change like I was!”

Tips From a Two-Time Installer

Realistic and elegant, do-it-yourself Marble Dream kits cover 40 square feet of space and come in Cosmos Black and Pristine White, which is what Coe selected. With just a few easy steps, anyone can create genuine veined marble finishes and visual appeal on most existing surfaces in just two days.

“The hardest part was waiting for the next step,” says Coe. “My tip is to practice patience and wait the amount of time that’s listed in the instructions before moving on. Find something else to do while waiting. It’s worth it in the end!”

Adding in the Veining

The start-to-finish project requires no skills and results in authentic-looking marble surfaces. Homeowners can decide on distinct or softer, more subdued veins, depending on their desire. Coe determined she wanted just a “hint of marble” so she used thin marble vein lines throughout her counter surfaces.

Novice DIY Project

Because the project is primarily rolling different coatings on the countertops, Coe believes the Marble Dream kit would be easy for anyone to do. After the applied veins dried, she applied three clear coats to protect her finished surface.

“My counters are so shiny and white I have to remind myself that it’s okay to use them!” says Coe. “The kitchen looks more finished and much brighter than before. I think the kit truly makes the counters come pretty close to an actual marble finish at just a fraction of the price of real marble.

“This is a big improvement over the original laminate counters, and even a step up from the SpreadStone textured counters that I loved!”

Marble Dream surfaces resist stains, heat and impact. Application of the product is minimal odor and low VOCs. Sinks, plumbing fixtures and countertops do not need to be removed before applying this product to laminates, concrete, plywood, MDF, stone, pre-coated and solid surfaces. The final Marble Dream surface is kept food safe and intact with a polyurethane clear coat.

The Marble Dream kit comes with all coatings and tools needed to complete the project in just a weekend. It retails for only $169 at www.daichcoatings.com with free shipping. Marble Dream Kits are also available at Lowe’s® and The Home Depot®.

Because Coe had already installed the SpreadStone Countertop Kit several years previously, she knew what to expect from this project. She relates that the Marble Dream Kit was actually easier, because there’s no sanding of stone surfaces and less dust involved.

“However, it’s a bit nerve-wracking knowing I’m responsible for putting down the marble veins,” says Coe, who lives in Ohio. “I tried using the sponges in the kit and wanted a thinner look. So I got a small artist’s paint brush with a regular angled paint brush to get the look I wanted. And I used the water spritz bottle as instructed to make the veins flow. Once I got the hang of it, it was less intimidating!”
