Contractor Dennis W. Jones was so impressed when he learned about the new LuxROCK™ Solid Surface Granite Countertop Kit that he waited for the product to come to market. His gut told him LuxROCK would be perfect for the kitchen he was remodeling in an apartment in Boardman, Ohio.
“I saw the granite countertop kit on the company’s website, then heard a radio interview about it and couldn’t wait to try the kit,” says Jones with Pinnacle Construction & Excavating LLC out of Warren, Ohio. “I was right to wait. The product is stunning and looks so natural. I’m so impressed that I’ll be using it on two more projects in the near future and in my own home.”
Kitchen Renovation Success
Jones selected the Galaxy Black granite countertop for the apartment’s kitchen countertop. His client likes black countertops so he knew this would be a big hit.
The overall project called for a complete apartment remodel with the kitchen totally redesigned, including new walls, layout and lighting/electrical. Jones custom fabricated the countertops and backsplashes out of MDF. After that he followed the instructions for installation on the LuxROCK kit and moved ahead with creating the granite stone surface.
“The primer coat and stone coat are very straight forward,” says Jones. “Applying the StoneSet coat I did use a brush from time to time on the narrow edges. Sanding the StoneSet coats can get a little messy, and I did use a lot more 400 grit paper than came with the kit.
“The clear top coat application must be followed exactly to the specs in the instructions. I went over one section with the roller too many times and it showed. However, it was an easy fix once dry. Overall, this was a fast, cost efficient way to get a real granite countertop that has an appealing smoothness.”
Roll On Real Granite Richness
Each LuxROCK Solid Surface Granite Countertop Kit includes a prime coat, StoneSet coats, clear epoxy and a clear coat finish. Tools needed for the project are included in the kit.
“LuxROCK is a functional and decorative blend of real stone, with stunning mineral highlights,” says Peter Daich, president of Daich Coatings. “This project is exceptionally easy and you don’t need any artistic or technical skills to make the resurfacing project a success.
“The best thing is that this is an extremely economical way to get authentic granite surface tops without the exorbitant price of installing slabs of granite. There’s no long wait time or messy construction with this kit. In just two days time, you can brush on a solid surface granite countertop that will be the showpiece of any kitchen. This is a fast way to make progress on a project and impress your clients.”
Named after real granite stones, the colors available in the LuxROCK kits include Galaxy Black, Platinum White, Basalt Mist (a dark gray), Crystal Quartz (a light gray) and Carrara (a creamy beige).
LuxROCK authentic stone surfaces resist stains, heat and impact. Application of the product has low odor and low VOCs. Sinks, plumbing fixtures and countertops do not need to be removed before applying this product to laminates, concrete, plywood, MDF, pre-coated and solid surfaces. The final LuxROCK surface is food safe.
