Basement Transformation with Daich Coatings

When Jack Paul and his wife moved into a basement apartment at his daughter’s home, they knew the 1,600-square-foot space needed work. They turned to Daich Coatings for help turning ugly concrete and block walls into a showcase

“The walls heading down into the basement from the outside entrance needed a full transformation,” says Jack Paul, a Pennsylvania resident. “I skim coated and waterproofed the cinder blocks first. Then I used the SpreadStone Decorative Concrete Resurfacing Kit in Cold Gold on the walls and the Midnight Slate version on the stairs.

“Above the door was white painted wood. I used the gray base of SpreadStone there to create a fake keystone with c. 2018 on it, the year we moved in.”

Rolling on with RollerRock

With some product left over, Paul kept adding SpreadStone around the apartment. He applied it to the walls of a corner wine storage closet for a creative look. And now, with containers of RollerRock in hand, he plans to coat the cement floor in his utility room.

“This was my first time using Daich Coatings products and I was impressed,” says Paul. “I’m not really artistic, but watching the videos beforehand helped a great deal. “The biggest challenge was coming up with realistic-looking patterns with the flagstone tape. The flagstone tape stuck easily, but the slate tile tape didn’t stick as well. We made it work though. After completing the touch up work the project came out great. “My daughter and son-in-law really like what we’ve done with the Daich Coatings products. Before COVID, they often asked us if they could bring guests down to show off the basement transformation. These products have helped make our new living space much more appealing.”
