Now THAT’S a Backsplash!

Once Julie Dewitz finished revitalizing her kitchen countertops with a LuxROCK™ ULTRA Solid Surface Granite Kit she didn’t want to stop. She loved the Carrara stone look so much that she decided to use the product to create a seamless backsplash right up her kitchen walls!

There were several challenges Julie had to overcome. First, how to get a seamless look and delete the area where the countertop ends and the backsplash begins. Second, leveling off the backsplash surface where two different backsplashes had previously existed.

Challenge Accepted

After doing her research, Julie filled in the space between the edge and the backsplash against the walls with Henry® FeatherFinish™ Underlayment Patch and Skimcoat. That helped level the surfaces out. Once she had a few layers of the skimcoat on and sanded down, she added Daich Coatings ElastoLock® on the backsplash area. Then she went back to a new LuxROCK™ kit and added the Carrara stone for the entire wall/backsplash surface.

“I wanted to hide the old backsplashes, and make the countertop and backsplash all one seamless material,” says Julie. “I’m really happy with the final outcome.”
