Survey after survey offers proof that homeowners this decade prefer home improvement projects over packing up and starting over. The latest survey<\/a> of U.S. homeowners, commissioned by Redfin, confirms the trend. 71% of property owners with renovation plans in the next year say remodeling is taking the place of purchasing a new home. And, 65% of surveyed homeowners who recently renovated decided to refurbish their current property instead of relocating.<\/p>

No surprise, the Redfin survey reports bathrooms and kitchens are high on the renovation list for homeowners. Specifically, the 2026 HOUZZ Kitchen Trends Study<\/a> reveals that countertops are the leading kitchen project upgrade (at 91%) during a renovation.<\/p>
